A background remover detects the main subject of a photo and erases everything behind it, producing a transparent PNG cutout that you can drop onto a new background, a product page, or a presentation slide. How it works​

Does my photo upload to a server?

No. Segmentation runs in your browser using a client-side model — the file never leaves your device. Faster, private, no quota.

Why is the edge fuzzy on hair?

Auto models trade speed for perfect alpha. For portraits with fine flyaway hair, expand the canvas, run the auto pass, then use the soft brush at low opacity to clean the silhouette.

Output is too large — how do I shrink it?

Pick a smaller export size before download, or run the result through the Image Compressor. PNG with transparency is naturally larger than JPG; if you do not need transparency, export as JPG with a flat background.

Can it remove the background from a logo?

Yes — but for vector logos and screenshots, the magic-wand colour-key tools (Transparent PNG Maker) often give cleaner results because the boundaries are sharp.

Why does the cutout look soft compared to a Photoshop pen path?

Auto segmentation produces probability masks, not vector paths. For broadcast-quality cutouts, refine in Photoshop after the auto pass — the auto result is usually 90% there and saves 10–15 minutes per image.

Is there a batch mode?

  • Save the transparent PNG as your master and re-composite onto different backgrounds rather than re-cutting each time.
