image-watermark

An image watermark tool overlays text or a logo onto a photo β€” to protect copyright, deter unauthorized reuse, brand portfolio shots, or mark proofs and drafts before client review β€” with control over position, opacity, rotation, size, and tiled repetition. The ZTools Image Watermark tool runs entirely in the browser, supports both text watermarks (with custom font, colour, shadow) and image watermarks (logos with their own transparency), provides nine preset positions plus pixel-perfect drag, and applies the same watermark to a batch of photos in one click.

Use cases

Protecting portfolio photos online

Photographers post samples on portfolio sites. A semi-transparent watermark across the centre or corner deters direct theft without ruining the visual.

Branding social media imagery

Bloggers and small brands add a small logo to every photo so it remains attributed when shared, embedded, or scraped onto Pinterest.

Marking drafts and proofs

A "DRAFT" or "PROOF" watermark on prints sent to clients prevents accidental publication of unfinished work.

Stock photo previews

Sellers offer low-res watermarked previews; buyers receive clean files after purchase. Tiled-watermark mode is the standard.

How it works

  1. Upload photo(s) β€” Single or batch. Same watermark settings apply across the batch.
  2. Choose text or logo β€” Text: type the string, pick font, size, colour, shadow. Logo: upload a PNG (transparent recommended), set scale.
  3. Position and angle β€” Nine presets (centre, corners, edges) or drag freely. Rotate 0–360Β°. Tile mode repeats across the canvas.
  4. Opacity and blend β€” Opacity 1–100%. Blend modes (multiply, overlay) for subtle integration with the photo.
  5. Export β€” JPG (smaller, common) or PNG (lossless). Original resolution preserved unless resized.

Examples

Input: Photo + "Β© 2026 Studio" bottom-right, opacity 60%

Output: Subtle text watermark; not too distracting

Input: Photo + logo PNG, centred, rotated 30Β°, opacity 30%

Output: Diagonal logo watermark, clearly visible but unobtrusive

Input: Photo + "PROOF" tiled across, opacity 15%, rotation 45%

Output: Anti-theft tiled watermark suitable for client proofs

Frequently asked questions

Where should the watermark go?

Bottom-right or bottom-left for subtle attribution. Centre or tiled for stronger protection. Corners are easy to crop out β€” for serious protection, place across the subject.

What opacity is right?

50–70% reads clearly without dominating. For tiled "PROOF" stamps, 10–20% is enough β€” the repetition does the work.

Will the watermark survive Instagram's recompression?

A high-contrast text or logo at 60%+ opacity survives. Subtle 10% watermarks may flatten and disappear after platform compression.

Can I batch-watermark a whole folder?

Yes β€” drop multiple photos and the same watermark applies. Useful for portfolio uploads.

Is the watermark removable?

Hard ones are difficult to remove cleanly. Light corner watermarks are crop-outable. For maximum protection, watermark across the subject.

Does it preserve EXIF metadata?

Yes β€” date, GPS, camera info copied to the output.

Tips

  • Use a logo PNG with transparency for cleaner blending than a rectangular box.
  • Tile + low opacity + 45Β° rotation is the most theft-resistant pattern.
  • For Instagram, place the watermark inside the safe centre crop area so feed and Reels both show it.
  • Save your watermark settings as a preset (download the JSON) β€” reuse with one click on the next batch.
  • When delivering to a paying client, export a watermark-free version too β€” the watermark is for sharing, not the deliverable.
